Ria 5yr Well Visit

Ria and Evan both had the well visits scheduled on the same ... that was a marathon 3hr doctor visit and I am so glad Jermaine was with us. Ria had to get her complete physical and check up for kindergarten so it took a little longer.
{ I love that she still has such a baby face the pic above }
She passed her hearing and vision tests and her blood draws were great (we just need to add some iron in - she's just like her mummy in that area). She now weighs 40lbs / 18kg (50%) and is 3ft 7in / 1.09m tall (75%) ... in other words tall and skinny (definitely not like her mummy!) So she is in perfect health, according to Dr. C and we will go back next for her next check up. Once again very thankful for healthy kids.

Evan: Six Months

How in the world has half a year flown by already. Unbelievable! Crazy that Evan is now 6mths old. We are loving every minute with our sweet baby boy. He has such a peaceful, quiet yet playful demeanour about him (reminds me so much of Javan as a baby - they would be almost identical if Evan was a stellar sleeper like Javan was!).

We had a busy day / weekend celebrating Evan's half birthday .... this was the first pic of him on the 24th (all snuggled up next to mummy in bed!)
 Chilling in his rocking chair
Getting his party jams on at Judah's 5th birthday
and completely worn out at the end of the day!
Here's a few pic I took of him before we went out for the day
These pics don't show it but he is so smiley and happy 95% of the time. He is very easy going and chill which is just perfect for us.
He is cooing and gurgling a ton and he sure can scream! The kids get so excited when they hear him scream / squeal.
He enjoys bath time and playing in his exersaucer and with his rattle and shaker toys. He is showing an interest in books and responds to music. He loves putting his toes in his mouth. I love watching him lay on the blanket and grab his feet and put them in his mouth or just hold them and sway side to side.
Those little fingers are always in his mouth.
{click on the pic}
And as is the tradition in our little family, we had to get him a half cake to celebrate his half birthday
.... we ate it for him!

Evan had his 6mth well check on the 28th.
Weight: 13lbs 15oz / 6.3kg (3% just barely on the charts!)
Height: 25 1/4 in / 64cm (5%)
He is definitely a petite little thing but he's got some chubs on him :)
So glad daddy could join us at this appointment
He was all smiles for Dr. C.
Later that evening, Evan got to try his first solid food (he was exclusively breastfed up until this point - just like Ria and Javan). He ate butternut squash and loved it!

Jermaine and I are so thankful for this sweet baby. I am so glad God decided to change our plans and add to our family when he gave us this special gift. We definitely cannot imagine life without him around!

Wrapping up Second Grade

Javan wrapped up his second grade year this week and what a great year he's had. He had a great teacher and some really fun classmates and he worked hard all year long. For their last week of school, Mrs. H had a fun week planned for them.
Monday was yearbook signing day .... all the kids got to autograph each others books and Mrs. H. signed it too. She wrote this sweet message for Javan.
Tuesday was their art exhibit night

Wednesday was the last full day of school. Mrs. H had a party for them and made a special announcement. When I picked up Javan, he was extremely sad and had actually been crying.
Come to find out the announcement was that she will be retiring and she wanted them to know how special each of them was cos they were her very last 2nd grade class. But, the kids didnt take it too well. They thought she did something wrong and the principal was upset with her! And then they realized they wont be seeing her in August. But, come to find out she is taking a part time kindergarten position (fingers crossed that she gets Ria in her class!)

Celebrating the end of school year with Nathan and Luke - we got blizzards at DQ and Steph and I decided to make this a tradition from now on!
Friday was an optional day for the very last day of the school year, but Javan insisted on going cos he wanted to give Mrs. H a hug and give her this note.

My parents face timed while we were at school and Mrs. H was so thrilled that she got to speak to them. I LOVE technology@

Jermaine and I are extremely proud of this kid ... he is going places I tell ya! His report card was nothing short of excellent.
Look how much he has grown .... no more baby face :( He looks so mature and is such a big boy now. *sniff sniff*
Can't believe we have a rising 3rd grader!

Ria Loses Her First Tooth

I can't believe how quickly this happened. Ria just turned 5 and her first tooth came loose. J pulled it last night.
excited about her note from the tooth fairy and of cos the money she got!
So now she's officially out of the preschool phase and into the big girl phase .... makes me sad how quickly my baby girl is reaching all these milestone. She on the other hand is super excited!

Ria's Under The Sea 5th Birthday Bash

We had Ria's 5th birthday party at the pool of our gym. She likes mermaids so we kind of loosely themed it around that and called it and Under the Sea bash :) She had a wonderful time celebrating with a few of her friends.

We had fun making these marshmallow pops
and literally threw this together 2hrs before the party as the backdrop
I didnt do much details this time, but J carved this shark out of a watermelon and it was a perfect addition to the food table
Ria wanted me to make her cupcakes and a cake - she wanted blue and white cupcakes and a lemon cake with blue icing that looked like the ocean. She's not one bit detailed! I attempted an ombre cake. Now that was fun colouring the icing!
 Livi, Ria and Josselyn
 Claire and Ria
Livi, Josselyn, Claire, Ria and Elleina
They seemed to like the cake .... :)

After baths and dinner at home, she got to open her presents. She was excited about the Frozen and Sophia the First stuff she got.
And there it is, another party in the books!
