Snap Shots from June

June really flew by ... its been a full and fun month. Here's some snapshots from this first month of summer:

While Javan was at Tennis Camp, Ria went to her own camp! Her friend from school invited her to VBS at their church and since we know the mom really well, we sent her. She had a great time.

They go to parents night out each month so they always look forward to events at FBC. This was Ria's first time and she loved it.

 Every time you walk into Ria's room, her pony is wearing something different.

Javan is really into space books now. He has read several of them this summer.

 Ria has done her fair share of reading too. She's even helped Norah!

Ria was excited when J came to the library to meet us. We went to lunch afterwards. Nice little treat for her!

Another week begins and we're ready for church

Baby shower for Jaime and Baby Reid (due in August)

It was a really cute shower. Loved getting together with so many friends and just hanging out and talking all things baby! Cannot wait to meet Reid!

Well Checks

Both kids had their check ups with Dr. Crabtree this week. Ria went in on Wednesday morning for her 4yr check up and Javan went in on Thursday afternoon for his 7yr check up.

Ria is all into Doc McStuffins so we sang the song and talked about her visit using examples from the show so she was excited through the whole visit.

 Sophia had to go with us for moral support and Javan gave her a little pep talk too!

weight: 35.5lbs / 16kg
height: 42in / 1.06m

Oh and she had to pee in a cup for this first time. She thought it was the silliest thing ever! The visit ended with two shots. I fully expected tears and screaming and thats not what happened. She sat at the end of the bed and I helped hold and she was just laughing and talking to me when the nurse stuck the needle in her. She had no clue what had happened and just screamed 'Ow that hurt. I dont like it' then she got stuck again and said the same thing. It completely threw me of cos I thought I would need to console her. I couldnt help but start laughing uncontrollably so much so that I had to turn away and the nurse was laughing at me. Ria got her lollipop and as we were walking out she says 'I don't like this place. I want to go to the dentist!'

Thursday afternoon I had to get Javan out of soccer camp early. He knew all week he would have to leave 15mins early but still fussed about it. His was a quick visit. The only thing we might have to keep a closer to watch on is the possibility of seasonal allergies. From symptoms he's had this past spring, Dr. Crabtree thinks it might get worse next year.

weight: 48lbs / 21.7kgs
height: 48in / 1.22m
and he got one shot.

I am very thankful for our healthy kids. Our kids typically only visit their doctor for their well checks. Jermaine and I never take for granted what a blessing this is.

Lee Soccer Camp

This past week Javan spent his days at soccer camp at Lee. It was full day of learning skills, practicing drills, watching soccer movies, doing soccer olympics, playing practice games and the highlight for him .... eating in the cafeteria! It was HOT. No amount of sunscreen helped. He still got burnt and felt terrible for him. One day he told me he wished there were trees all around the field so there was shade for them to play under. We went out towards the end of the day to watch the matches and just that hour in the heat was enough. Friday was the last day and they finished up early so we spent the whole time out there. I was so sick by the time we got home. The heat was unbearable. I know its summer and that's par for the course but those poor kids. Anyways despite the heat and humidity, it was a fantastic week of camp. Here are some pictures from the week ...

We were so excited that Nathan's doctor gave him the ok to do camp. He is doing so much better and making improvements in his recovery.
