Kindergarten Rocks

In a few months someone is turning FIVE and a few months after that this little someone will be starting kindergarten. This mama is in denial.

Last night we took Ria for a Kindergarten Rocks tour at North Lee. She was a little aloof about the whole thing. I mean she knew WHY we were there but as far as she is concerned she does home school with mummy and this was Javan's school. We got to meet the teachers and one of the 5th graders gave her a tour of the whole school. It was a full out family affair as we walked the halls with our little princess.

After the tour, we filled out the paperwork and officially registered her to begin in August.

I tell you what ... it was very bitter sweet for me. She's been my side kick since she was 15mths old when I quit working outside our home. It's going to be very hard to see her off to school full time. She on the other hand is pretty excited for big school. Time is marching on ....

Evan: Three Months Old

Our sweet little angel baby is three months old! I can't believe how quickly these months are flying by. I realize I will be saying this every month but its so true.

Evan has come alive this past month. Its as though he has emerged from his newborn funk now and is loving life and taking in everything around him. He stays awake for longer periods, recognizes our voices and faces and really wants to interact with us.

Sleep is good on some days and so so on others. For the most part he takes 2 really long naps during the day (about 2-3hrs) and 2 or 3 short ones (time varies). He goes down for the night around 9 or 10pm and will wake about 3 or 4 hours later to eat and then will sleep for about 5hrs (he can do 6hrs), wake to eat and then back to sleep for 3 more hours. It never fails that my sleep is broken when I am in my deepest slumber and I will hear Jermaine say 'babe I think he's hungry!' Most nights we usually go to bed around midnight so I try to feed him around that time. We're still breastfeeding and plan to do so for the whole year (or more). He has had thrush which is not fun but we're working through it. he's also still sleeping in our room ... we're in no rush to move him but it will happen soon (we say that each month:)

Evan is really a sweetheart. He is so smiley and happy and for the most part a very chill baby (he has his moments!) He coos a lot and has his baby talk going on. He is very responsive to us. He loves when they kids talk or sing to him. Javan and Ria are just enamoured by him. He really knows them and smiles instantly the moment they are in his face. He has a ready made audience at all times!

He enjoys being on his back and kicks a ton. He is good with tummy time too. He tries to roll on his side. Still trying to figure it out and he has pretty good neck control. He's still very wobbly but he's getting stronger each day.  He loves bath time. And being massaged after baths. He lays on his towel and I massage him and he just smiles and coos at me. After his massage he gets his hair dried - another thing he loves. He lays on his tummy and I use the hair dryer to dry his hair.  He is so relaxed during all this. Spoiled I tell ya!

I've started leaving him in childcare at the gym now (I used to leave him in the personal trainers office in the weight room) and they love having him in there, even if he sleeps most of the time! I am trying to get us into a routine and for the most part I can predict his daily schedule. I like having a schedule but I am definitely WAY more chill this time around.

I am absolutely loving being a mum the third time over.  He is such a joy to have in our family and just really completes us.

Mesmerized

Evan is MESMERIZED by the ceiling fan! It's hilarious. We turn it on and off just to get a reaction from him and when he sees it moving he cant quit smiling and just stares at it. Its so cute to watch!

I absolutely love this pic of Evan snuggling with Ria .... she is SOOooo in love with him. He's seriously her real baby doll :)

Baby's First Valentines

I really wanted to make our Valentines Day / weekend lots of fun (especially since Jermaine and Javan were out of school for the week), but when the stomach virus took over our house for a few days all those plans went out the door. I did make sure to get some pics of Evan on his first Valentines Day ... he spent the day with Norma at her house since Jermaine and I were just too weak to take care of him:(

A Winter Wonderland (Valentines Snow Days)

Snow has been on the forecast this whole week and it finally arrived Wednesday night.

School has been out this whole week which was perfect. Thursday morning we woke up to the most picturesque winter wonderland we've ever seen. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Jermaine took a TON of pics ... here's a few of them

Building a snowman is a lot of work .... Ria wanted to build a family of five but after the second one when it was clear Jermaine and I were doing all the work, we called it quits!

These snow days were lots of fun. Later that afternoon though it turned horrible. Javan and I were hit with a stomach virus. And around midnight Jermaine got it too. Ria had it the day before but we thought it was just something she ate and she only threw up once. She did throw up a few days before but then she was fine. This was not the way we wanted to spend our Valentines weekend :(
