Introducing ....

the newest Calvin Klein model:)

(this isn't the best pic though and I so wish I could share THE funniest but absolutely sweetest one. His dad specifically said 'that one is not going on his website or our blog')

Javan wore big boy undies for the first time today! He calls it 'soccer ball' cos the 2 pairs he has have soccer balls on them! He was so proud and excited to wear them and he pranced around the house like hot stuff. He didn't want to take them off when we were heading out the house so we followed his cues. We asked him several times if he needed to potty and he said no. Sadly at Target he had an accident - we were sitting at the Starbucks cafe and he fell of the chair. I caught him by his chin but it scared him which is what I think caused him to pee all over himself:( But, we're proud of him - he went 5hrs without any incident so I think he'll eventually catch on to it.

Pregnancy Update: The Anatomy Scan (21wks)

We went in for the BIG ultrasound yesterday morning, except of cos its not big for anyone else since you don't get to know the baby's gender! Its still an important scan though cos they go through the baby's anatomy to make sure everything is on track and the baby is developing as it should. The baby looks good and healthy and already weighs 1 pound! The lady who did the scan was good but geez she had no personality (Katie I think it might be the lady who did your scan). But we got some good pics, not as good as the ones we got from Javan's scan though. The most fun part was seeing the baby playing with his/her feet! We couldn't get a good profile shot cos the baby was laying too low. Baby's heart was beating around 154/156. Waiting our turn - Javan and Ma watching the fish and after the scan and since I can't the get the pics of the DVD here's a photo of the scan - J says its pointless even posting it cos they aren't that great ... oh well
I tried getting a video up but it keeps saying error:(

Rock Stars!

I love how everyone is tapping into Javan's musical talents! Grandma Flora got him a little piano and he loves it too. Sunday night Javan, Thata (that's grandpa) and Daddy had a little rock band going on so we had a mini concert.

Tis The Season To Eat!

We've been eating way too much since my parents have been here! Saturday we had lunch at the Chop House in Chattanooga after a little bit of shopping

In the evening Nicole invited us over for dinner

Sunday was Karen's birthday lunch at the Olive Garden in Hixson. It was a fun celebration and my parents enjoyed it too.

By Sunday evening we were so tired of eating that dinner was just grilled cheese sandwiches!

But we picked up the pace on Monday night ... mum cooked fish curry and prawns and I made roti. Javan LOVES roti! Last night was lamb and tonight we are cooking chicken breyani (another yummy Indian dish) for our new years eve dinner! Good thing I have an excuse to eat and we also have our fast coming up!!!

Christmas Take Two!

Friday morning we headed down to Atlanta bright and early to get my parents from the airport. We haven't seen them since January 2007 - when Javan was just 7mths old. He knows who they are cos he talks to them on skype all the time but of cos seeing them was totally different! He has just woken up and was trying to figure out where he was when we spotted them. It took him some time to warm up but once he woke up he was better. We headed back to Cleveland and had a little Christmas lunch. I had planned to cook more stuff, but since we had tons of leftovers from our lunch, it was unanimous that it would be a waste! After lunch we opened presents and rested. We were all very tired from the early morning.

at the airport

my dad had no time to unpack - Javan got him to sit down and play trains almost immediately. btw when I call my dad 'dad/daddy' Javan says 'thats not daddy, thats Thata!' Anyways Dad got him more trains tracks and James the train.

before opening presents

Javan got his first piece of jewelery - not sure when I'll trust him to wear it! Amazingly he knew exactly what to do with it when he opened the little box he found in his stocking.
he wanted to open their presents!

Javan of cos got lots of stuff (clothes, toys, etc)! We also got new clothes, some yummy foods from home and the new baby got some stuff too.

More coming soon!!!

Little Drummer Boy

Javan LOVES playing the drums ... well that might actually be an understatement but I dont know the exact word to use to describe his love for the drums, he just truly has a knack with those sticks! When we started Kindermusik with him he was just 7mths old but his teacher noticed right away that he was able to keep beat with any song that was played using whatever instruments he held. He had perfect timing. I was actually so glad to hear and see this - musical talent does not run in my family - this is something he got straight from his dad (No one in J's family has musical talent either). In recent months, we noticed that he has developed a love for the drums. After church he heads straight to the drum set to play. Nicole and Serge surprised Javan with an awesome gift for Christmas and they actually beat us to something we had planned to get him for his birthday! They got him a little drum set and he was ecstatic to say the least.

Watching his new drum set get set up

He wasted no time in playing!
Noah got a guitar so they made an instant band!
Getting in one last set before bed time:)
Let's just 2009 is going to be VERY noisy in our house ... in more ways then one!!!

Our Christmas Feast

We invited Nicole and Serge over for Christmas lunch. We're all away from our families but we over the years we have become more than friends - we are definitely family! Javan and Noah love playing with each other and its always a crazy time when we get together. Us ladies cooked a bunch of stuff ... Our menu consisted of:
- Savoury Roasted Turkey
- Honey Glazed Ham
- Stuffing
- Maple Roasted Butternut
- Roasted Baby Potatoes
- Sweet Potatoes with caramelized bananas
- Cinnamon Glazed Carrots
- Corn Fritters

Dessert was a milk tart (traditional South African tart) and a chocolate cake topped with whipped cream and fruit.

Way too much for just us but it was Christmas after all and it covered dinner too!

We ate lunch and then basically enjoyed a leisurely afternoon. While the boys napped, we played played Mexican train dominoes.

Here's a few photo's from the afternoon/evening...
