Grams and Kilograms

Javan is learning all about measurements and different weights. Here we are talking about grams and kilograms
I love that he LOVES learning. He is also a quick learner, especially in Math. The first day they did timed math subtraction tests at school he was so excited when I picked him up. First thing out his mouth 'Mummy guess what? I made a +30 (100%) on my subtraction tests and we didn't even get to practice.' They get 90 seconds to answer 30 questions. He continues to excel in his reading and does really great on his spelling tests every Friday. We're so proud of our (not so) little learner:)

Yo Ho Lets Go!

Javan and Ria's friend, Jackson celebrated his 5th birthday recently. The theme was Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Javan is all about Jake (thats who he was for Halloween last year) and Ria loves Izzy so this party was right up their alley!

Ria actually won the game. and she wasn't even really bowling!
 such posers I tell ya!
Happy birthday Jackson. We had fun celebrating with you!

Our Week in Pics: An Anniversary and A Baby Gender Reveal

Last Friday (15th) J and I celebrated our 15th anniversary as a couple. I'll never forget that day he asked me if I would be his girl. It was Valentines weekend and I was actually babysitting for one of my professors which meant we couldn't go out at all (and he of cos couldn't come the house). We were talking late Valentines night and some time after midnight he said something like 'I really want you to be my girlfriend' I told him I would think about .... you know playing hard to get and all that jazz:) We planned to celebrate this fun milestone in our relationship and it worked out perfectly that the kids had parents night out that evening. Unfortunately life (ie ridiculously expensive car repairs) got in the way. We ended up going to Honeybaked Ham - it just opened recently and it was ok. The fun part of the evening was walking in the restaurant and seeing J's coworker Joseph, and his wife Alyssa, so we ended up hanging out with them for most of the evening. HH closed at 7pm (who closes at 7pm on a Friday night?) so the rest of our double date night included walking around Target and Kohls. I know it sounds dull but it was actually pretty fun:)
Sunday after church. Ria was mid yawn and Javan just wanted J to hurry up so he could get to his lunch!
My sweet sleeping babies. J took this before he went to bed Tuesday night. I told him Ria's room is probably going to be a museum. She prefers to sleep in our room or Javan's.
My friend Jaime is pregnant with her 3rd baby. We are all so excited cos its been a long time since we've had a new baby in our circle of friends. Her first two were surprise deliveries so this time she decided to find out the gender. Wednesday night she put together a really cute 'gender reveal party' .... Before the reveal, I told her I really wanted her to have a girl but I had a feeling it would be a boy. She already knew at that point but she was very tight lipped about it!
 making their guesses
Jermaine seriously had NO clue what was going on. He just thought it was sweet of Jaime to bring us cupcakes when she told us the baby's gender. He didn't realize that inside the cupcake was either pink or blue icing which would reveal the new baby gender.
Jaime had us stand pretty close together and while she was getting ready to count us down to bite into those cupcakes, Jermaine mindlessly starts eating his (once again clueless ... he was busy on his Ipad trying to call Blake). Jaime with her hawk eyes saw the blue icing peeking out. She grabbed his plate from him and folded it over. Jermaine was so puzzled as to why this woman was taking his cupcake away from him!

I was too impatient to bite into mine, so i broke it in half!
And I was right! Baby boy #3 is on the way:)
Pastor Jim and J busy on their electronics
Did we miss something?
 And they get it

Face time with Black and Alisha
As much as I love surprise deliveries, I have to admit this party was pretty fun! I don't like wishing days and months away but August can't get here fast enough for us to meet this sweet baby boy:)

Phase In

Yesterday was a big day for our little girl! She had her first phase in day at Montessori Kinder. We were so excited when a spot opened up for her. She will start in March and her excitement about it is just adorable. I've heard her tell J and Javan that she doesn't have to do 'mummy's school/home school' anymore cos she gets to go to a real school. Silly girl!

We met her lead teacher, 2 of the assistants (1 was out) and her Spanish and German teacher. It was so sweet when all the kids saw her walk in and Ms LeeAnna introduced her as their new friend. Several gathered around her and followed her from class to class wanting to be the one to show her around.

She was a little nervous at first. Not shy at all but wanted to make sure I was close by and when everyone crowded around her, it threw her off a little but within minutes she was on her own and pretty much left me sitting in the corner just watching! We were supposed to just go for about 45mins to an hour but she was loving it so much we ended up staying for little over 2hrs and even then she didn't want to leave and started crying when I told her it was time to go.

A few friends remembered her from camp last year and knew that she is Javan's baby sister so of cos the first question was 'Where's Javan?' followed by 'Why isn't he here?'
I am so happy she had a great time and is excited about her new 'real' school:)

Happy Valentines Day

Wednesday night we had a Valentines party at church. Throw in 30 kids, a few Minute to Win it games, lots of sugary stuff and you get a pretty loud, chaotic and crazy fun time!
*these pics are from the ipad - the battery of my camera died soon after we started the party*
The kids loved the balloons that were made for them by Jim (his family is relatively new to our church and he is amazingly talented and self taught in this fun art!)
how cute is this Valentines cake?
Kathy made it extra special and did a great job setting up for us. This was definitely a fun treat for our kids.
I just can't get over how crazy and chaotic it was, especially since the kids were on such a sugar high but goodness it was lots of fun!
I snapped these before Javan went to school ... he looks SO excited to have his picture taken for Valentines day ... NOT!
Ria of cos is always camera ready! Bella spent the day with us,
and so did Norah. It was quite a mission getting a pic of the three together. Norah started crawling so she is keeping me pretty busy
Javan was pretty flabbergasted that two of the girls in his class gave him a Tinkerbell and a Barbie Valentine. Seriously how dare they:) I was cracking up watching his roll his eyes about it.

J decided to skip class (but still had to work at home later on) so we had a fancy burger dinner at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. While we were there Ria struck up a conversation with this older lady. Her husband joined in and asked Ria how old she is. When she told him she's three, he said 'wow you are really tall for three.' Her response made us laugh. She says 'no just my tiaras make me taller!'
We spent the rest of the evening at home. It was perfect, quiet and very comfy.
