A Full But Fun Week

*** warning ... super long post ahead ***

Last weekend (19-21 June) was pretty busy, esp Saturday. We had a baby shower in the morning, wedding in the afternoon and a 40th birthday party in the evening. Most people would probably balk at so many things to do in one day, but not us! We love celebrating with our friends and we do our best to make it to an event.

Shower for Baby T - The shower was actually the biggest event for us that day since Nicole and I hosted it. It was lots of fun and Norma was definitely blessed. I can't wait to meet this baby boy.

Jermaine carved this watermelon ... not bad for a first time right?

Baby T will be arriving July 17 and I'm glad someone else is having as much difficulty with a boys name as we did!!! Hhahhaa:)

The 40th - My friend Yvette turned 40 this same weekend and she had a 'fresh' birthday bash complete with a little Louis V. cake!

Sunday was Fathers Day. Nicole had a lunch at their place - yummy grilled kebabs and we enjoyed a lazy afternoon while the kids played.

Monday night we were so excited to have one of my best friends Shelly and 3 of her 4 kids over for dinner. Ishi (one of J's best friends) is in Iraq for the next year and they are actually living in North Carolina on base there so visits are very rare so it was really cool spending time with her and the kids. And of cos she got to meet Ria which was a must for her this visit!

Alia is a little diva!

Last Tuesday and Thursday and tonight we spent most of the evening painting at Norma and Kelvin's house ... actually I helped with all the measuring and J painted, Kelvin helped and I supervised! We're gonna finish up the room this week.

Wednesday night we finally made it to the pool for this week .... and we got to see our godson Eli (shelly and ishi's son) and he spent the night with us. Javan was absolutely thrilled to see him. It was pretty funny listening to him converse with Eli:

'Hey Eli ... you want to go to the swimming pool to go swimming?'
'Eli I have a baby sister'
'Eli you want to drive in my grey car?' (this one cracks me up since my car is now his car!)
'Eli you want to go to my house?'
'Eli you want some soji'
'Eli are you sick?'
'Eli thank you for coming to visit with Javan'

I think Eli was a little overwhelmed with all these questions! At one point he asked 'how old is Javan ... he talks too much!' lol!!!

Ria's view - she is doing great with tummy time!

Thursday afternoon we went to Athens, Tenn. to visit the Mayfield Dairy Farms ... or the Yellow Milk place like Javan called it! We've been wanting to do this for the longest time .... every time we go to Knoxville, we always say 'next time we should go there' and of cos never do. So we decided to do so as a treat for Javan's birthday. Did you know it takes 20,000 cows milked twice a day to produce ONE day's worth of milk for this region? Crazy huh? and another interesting thing ... our neighbours dad has a farm and his cows supply milk for Mayfield in Athens.

Oh, and we saw Scottie Mayfield! We were sitting out front eating our ice cream after tour and he was walking to the building next door.

Friday afternoon Javan went to the movies with Owa (Aunty Eleanor). To say that he was excited would be an understatement! He couldn't contain himself:) They went to watch UP but there was a storm scene and it scared him so he wanted to go home. But he was thrilled to talk about the movie and let me know he had popcorn!

Friday evening was pretty interesting ... it was my first time going solo with both kids and one of them almost drowned:( Not kidding. I took Javan and Ria to Mason's first birthday party which happened to be a pool party. Javan is used to the pool at the Y were he can run in and out as far as he wants to and knows his limits, but this pool had a little kiddie area and then a drop which he didnt know and I didnt either so he fell in. It was pretty scary watching this scene unfold but thankfully I didnt panic, I grabbed his arm and pulled him out. He was just shocked by what happened. I had the camera in one hand when I pulled him out of the pool and I think water got into it cos it wouldnt work:(

Yesterday after church we stopped by Wolf Camera in the mall to see if they could fix it. It would cost $114 to repair and would take 4-8wks; a new lens would cost $200 - not good news. Jermaine told him we'll come back. What I didnt know was that while the guy was messing with the lens, he fixed it!!! When we walked out the store, J said 'I think its working' and proceeded to take some pics and sure enough its working! Yippee:)

and yay for me for finally finishing a post I started way too many hours ago!!!

Ready, Set, Splash!

Summer is definitely a fave season in our house! Tuesday night we headed to the pool for some summer splashing.

I just love this pic ... J was taking pics of Ria in her bathing suit and Javan just walked up to me and kissed me ... love my boy!

so the boys splashed ...

and kicked ...

while Ria and I just sat on the side and watched.

next time I'm going in and J has to sit poolside:)

Ria's Dedication

"For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You,
for I am fearfully and wonderfully made"

It was a great honour to dedicate Ria to the Lord this morning. It important for us to remember that God has entrusted her care to us and in return we need to give her back to Him. In the presence of our church family we committed to raising her to the best of our abilities and ensuring that she can learn about God at an early age.

The dedication was so sweet. Pastor Jim always makes these so personal to each family and we really appreciate that. I want to remember all that he said but sadly we dont have it on video.

We had the camcorder there and we thought it was being recorded but when J checked the tape afterwards it didnt record:( I hate that cos I really wanted to watch it again to hear what Pastor Jim said and of cos it would have been nice for Ria to have it to watch later on. I know we have lots of pics (thanks Karen and Scott) but it still would have been nice to have the video too:(

The Dedication
Pastor Jim introducing Ria to her church family ... she was snoozing!
It was really sweet of Claire and Ryan to pray for our family too ... thanks guys!

The Celebration: Lunch at PF Changs

Tom, Kuulei, Nicole and Serge joined us for lunch to celebrate Ria's big day.

Ria's photoshoot! I took way too many pics of her when we got home (but of cos you can never have enough!) ... couldn't help myself! I guess I was making up for the fact that I dont have many from Javan's dedication of just him.

The Dress
Ria's dedication dress is vintage ... VERY vintage:) Its 32yrs old and is really special to me. Her dress was made from the lace on my mum's wedding gown and was worn by me for my dedication and by Javan for his.

Elephant Jammies

I love elephants and someday I want to ride one, hopefully in India and/or Thailand:) So when I found these jammies I just had to get them. Ria's sleeper I got long before she was born and Javan's jammies were a more recent addition (its the only non monkey set he has and will wear right now:)

I have a feeling we'll have tons of pics like these!

Six Weeks Old!

Ria is 6wks old today ... I can go on and on about fast this is going by but I'm not going to cos we all know that by now:) She is just so sweet and such a doll. Little Miss LOVES being held and is starting to pout which is so cute. Needless to say we both spend a lot of time wearing her in various slings! Its like she just KNOWS the minute we aren't close to her. She is also cooing and will smile when we talk with her. She really focuses in and listens to you and then she'll crack a smile.

her outfit says: I bet you wish you were as cute as me!

I guess I'll be taking all her pics in her crib! I want her to get used to it and this seems like a good way to start:)
